О нас Даллас Старз
The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas, Texas. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). Their beginnings were far away from Texas – in 1967 the NHL expansion saw their creation as the Minnesota North Stars, based in Bloomington, Minnesota. Before the beginning of the 1978–79 NHL season, the team merged with the Cleveland Barons after the league granted them permission due to each team's respective financial struggles. Ultimately, the franchise relocated to Dallas for the 1993–94 NHL season. The Stars played out of Reunion Arena from their relocation until 2001, when the team moved less than 1.5 miles into the American Airlines Center.
The Stars have won eight division titles in Dallas, two President's Trophies as the top regular season team in the NHL, the Western Conference championship twice, and in 1998–99, the Stanley Cup. The Dallas Stars became the first NHL team based in a sub-tropical city, from the 35th parallel north to win a Stanley Cup.
In their path to that Stanley Cup final Dallas defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-0, the St. Louis Blues 4-2 and the Colorado Avalanche 4-3. The series itself was extremely tight fought, tied at two games each after the first four games. That was when Dallas asserted themselves, winning game five 0-2 and finally back on their home ice eventually came out 2-1 winners in game six in the final minute of the third overtime period.
The sustained success that the Stars have enjoyed – after all this is a team that has only missed the playoffs four times – is undoubtedly due to the quality of the teams they have put out on the ice. Let’s review some of the outstanding names in the past 49 years.
Mike Modano had the most lethal shot in Stars history and proved it 557 times in a Dallas uniform and was the franchise leader in every offensive category – always a great favorite with Stars fans.
Defenseman Sergei Zubov was a constant in the Dallas line-up and never posted less than 40 points in seasons in which he played more than 70 games, which was all but two of his 12 with the team. Time after time, Zubov exposed the opposing teams' defense and found his way on the scoresheet.
Joe Nieuwendyk played a key role in the triumphant 1998-99 season when the Stars won the Stanley Cup. He was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner in 1999 as most valuable player of the post-season.
Goaltender Marty Turco is the owner of several franchise goaltending records that include most games played (509), goalie assists, shutouts (40) and wins (262). He is one of the best puck-handling goalies in the league and for the majority of the 2000s, was one of the league's elite net minders.
